Laura Morell, LCSW
Therapist
Who is Laura as a therapist?
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I wholeheartedly believe in the power of transformational healing. My approach is grounded in a person-centered, trauma-informed framework that honors each individual’s unique story. I’m here to walk alongside you—supporting, empowering, and encouraging you as you take steps toward meaningful, lasting change.
Healing is not linear, and it often begins with one courageous decision: to reach out. I aim to create a safe, compassionate space where you can feel seen, heard, and supported. I use a strengths-based lens and draw from a variety of evidence-based practices including DBT and CBT.
I work with clients of all ages and backgrounds who are navigating a wide range of mental health concerns—including depression, anxiety, trauma, chronic suicidality, mood and personality disorders, and issues related to body image, self-esteem, and self-worth. While I welcome all clients, my greatest passion lies in supporting individuals through the healing and recovery process from eating disorders.
One of my favorite quotes comes from Mr. Fred Rogers:
“Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary.”
This is the heart of my practice.
You are worthy. You are loved. You are capable of doing hard things. If you’re ready to take that first brave step, I’m here to walk with you.
I see you. I hear you.
Meet Ember, our therapy dog
At Rooted Resilience Wellness, healing doesn’t just come from words—it also comes from connection, comfort, and presence. That’s where Ember, our sweet and intuitive Golden Retriever, comes in.
Who is Ember?
Ember is more than just a friendly face—she’s a trained therapy dog who joins me in the office to offer calm companionship and emotional support. With her gentle spirit, warm eyes, and endlessly wagging tail, Ember helps create a grounding, safe space for clients of all ages.
Whether she’s sitting quietly nearby, resting her head on a knee, or simply offering her calming energy in the room, Ember reminds us that healing doesn’t always come from talking. Sometimes it comes from being seen, held, and accepted—just as we are.
Why a Therapy Dog?
Therapy animals can help:
-
Ease anxiety and lower stress levels
-
Offer emotional grounding during tough conversations
-
Provide a nonjudgmental presence for those feeling isolated or overwhelmed
-
Help build trust in the therapeutic process
What to Expect
Ember is incredibly friendly and trained to sense emotional distress. She’s respectful of space and client preferences. If at any point you’d prefer a session without her present, that’s completely okay—just let me know.
Likewise, if you’re someone who finds comfort in dogs or would like her nearby during sessions, she’s happy to be part of your support system.
A Part of Our Healing Space
Ember is a gentle reminder that you’re never alone in the healing process. Sometimes the most powerful support doesn’t come from words—it comes from quiet presence, soft fur, and unconditional love.
Areas of Experience
I work with individuals across diverse backgrounds, identities, and life experiences. My practice is affirming, inclusive, and grounded in the belief that every story matters.
